ADP is improving your debit card experience

ADP is in the process of enhancing our participant communications. To facilitate these changes, we’ve temporarily disabled many of our standard communications, including the TexFlex Card Swipe Validation Request.

In the next few weeks, ADP will send a TexFlex Card Swipe Validation Request only to participants with a debit card transaction that ADP was unable to automatically validate over the last few months.

Note: If none of your TexFlex debit card purchases need to be validated, you will not receive a TexFlex Card Swipe Validation Request and do not need to take any action.

TexFlex Card Swipe Validation Requests are sent by email for participants who have an email on file and by mail to participants who don’t. It is important that participants who receive a TexFlex Card Swipe Validation Request respond as quickly as possible.

The notice explains that the participant must send ADP an itemized receipt or Explanation of Benefits (EOB) to prove his or her purchase is eligible under IRS rules. If proper documentation isn’t provided within the specified timeframe the participant’s card could be temporarily suspended. (Card signature receipts that do not show the item/service detail are not sufficient to validate a TexFlex debit card transaction.)

Participants can easily submit supporting documentation online by logging into their TexFlex account and clicking, “Card Swipe Validation.” There are also step-by-step instructions on the How to Validate Your TexFlex Card Swipe flier.

TexFlex Limited Flexible Spending Account

Starting September 1, 2016, the TexFlex limited flexible spending account (LFSA) will be available to employees who enroll in Consumer Directed HealthSelect.

A TexFlex LFSA lets you set aside money on a pre-tax basis – for both you and your eligible dependents – the same way a health care flexible spending account (FSA) does, except it is limited to dental and vision expenses so that it complies with IRS requirements. The TexFlex LFSA will be administered by ADP, LLC (ADP).

Only employees enrolled in Consumer Directed HealthSelect are eligible to enroll in an LFSA (retirees are not eligible). Check out the frequently asked questions for more information about LFSA

Federal Updates

Starting September 1, 2015, the maximum annual contribution amount for the TexFlex health care account is $2,550 per year.

Mileage rate for eligible medical visits changed to $.19 per mile

Effective January 1, 2016, the standard mileage rate (as set by the IRS) for the use of a car, van, pickup or panel truck for eligible medical visits will be $.19 per mile. The cost of fares for buses, taxis, trains and subways will continue to be reimbursable for the full amount.
